September 23, 2019What's New
This past week, we were fortunate to attend our 9th DPharm Disruptive Innovations Meeting, sponsored by The Conference Forum. Congratulations to Valerie Bowling and Meredith Sands and their team for an eye opening conference.
As a starter, Dr Scott Gottlieb, 23rd Commissioner of the FDA, delivered an industry keynote with his views on modernizing clinical trials. Alyssa Epstein, a Patient Advocate, Radio City Rockette, presented a heart warming experience on her journey with breast cancer. Then more than 20 pharma companies reported on specific innovations they have developed to better deliver new medicines. This included a full spectrum of clinical research including virtual trials, digital applications, real-world data, big data management, AI applications, MAPs, EHR eSource operations, patient-centric strategies, new business models, collaborations and technologies.
On Day 2, our friend and colleague Craig Lipsett, Former Head of Clinical Innovation at Pfizer, chaired a panel on Direct-to-Patient Clinical Trials Next Milestones and Actions to Get There. Panel members included: Adama Ibrahim, EMBA, Associate Director, Performance Operational Capabilities, Global Clinical Operations, Biogen; Jacob LaPorte, PhD, Co-founder & VP, Global Head of Novartis Biome, Novartis; Kelly McKee, Head, Patient Recruitment, Vertex Pharmaceuticals and Jules Mitchel, PhD, President, Target Health.
It was an awesome meeting with major technology inroads in clinical research, including an approach to a site-less 8,000 patient registration presented by Big Pharma. .
At the end of the week, we attended a Scientific Advisory Board meeting in NJ. The following photo was taken at dinner and says it all.
